Save on Hotels

If you are planning a trip in the near future, one of the largest expenses is lodging. Whether you stay at a hotel or motel, you can be spending hundreds of dollars a night for a room. If you would like to save money on your motel or hotel rooms, here are some great tips.

Many hotels and motels have frequent customer programs. Just like airlines, loyalty is rewarded in the hotel industry. If you find that you use a hotel or motel frequently, sign up for their loyalty program. You can usually save 10% or more off the regular room rate.

Shopping on the internet can also save you valuable money. You can easily compare dozens of hotels in a single area, finding the one that fits your needs for the lowest price. The internet hands down, is the most practical resource to finding a great deal. You can not only see dozens of choices at once but compare them very easily.

Joining travel related clubs like AAA can also save you money. You can usually find hotels that offer discounts for members of certain clubs. Another option is to contact the desk directly and ask for a special room rate. Talking to the manager or hotel personnel that does not rely on commissions can save you extra money, especially during off peak seasons. If you want to save big on your hotel or motel rooms, check out the above tips.

Saving on Airfare

For most travellers, airfare can take a huge bite out of a vacation budget. Many people looking to save some money on their vacation are looking for ways to save on their next airfare purchase. Here are some tips to find savings on airfare.

One of the first things to do is check out low cost internet travel sites. Travel sites such as Orbitz, Travelocity and Expedia can help you sift through thousands of flights in just a few seconds to find the lowest airfare that fits your itinerary. Besides these travel sites, visit low cost airline sites directly. Many low cost airlines such as Jet Blue or South West do not advertise or sell tickets on the major travel web sites.

If you are planning on visiting Europe this year, make sure to check out super low cost airlines. In Europe, competition is steep and you can find airfares for only a few dollars each way. Some fares are as low as $2 not including taxes and fees, but it is very easy to find an airfare from one country to another for less than $75.

Besides shopping on web sites, you can also save by purchasing your airfare far in advance or at the last minute. However, you can’t guarantee that at the last minute you will find the lowest fare, sometimes it can be the most expensive and depends on a number of factors. If you are looking for great ways to save on major vacation purchases, look into the above ways to save on airfare.

Save on Rental Cars>

One of the major components of a great vacation is having access to a car. No matter if you are visiting Florida, California or any city, private transportation is important. Renting a car can be a bland experience or a chance to drive something fun and sporty. If you are planning on travelling in the near future, here are some tips on rental cars.

You can save lots of money by shopping for a rental car online. With the internet, you can check several rental car agencies at once to determine which agency has the best cars or lowest price. Another option to save on rental cars is to join a loyalty program if you rent often. If you don’t rent often, scour the internet for internet coupons. Usually lots of rental agencies run specials or have coupon codes that can save you big.

If you are renting a car for a once in a lifetime vacation or just to get away from it all and would like to enjoy some time with a loved one or friend, rent a car that is fun to drive. Why rent a family sedan when you can rent a convertible, sports car or Jeep.

Today, many rental agencies offer many different types of cars besides basic transportation. For a few bucks more per day, you can enjoy a great rental car experience.

If you are looking to travel on your own, one of the best resources are travel guides. There are travel guides for almost every genre and today, you can also find travel books specifically made for student travellers. You can find great places to stay on the cheap, great pubs and dance clubs and lots of cultural attractions. You can also find plenty of reviews on different cities and resorts. For instance, people looking to travel to Europe can find out information on many different countries and cities.

Another great resource is your student identification card. Most attractions, hostels and airlines offer great discounts for students travelling in America as well as abroad.
