Entering Text in Normal View or Slide View
Text can be entered directly onto the slide in either Normal view or Slide view. In any slide presentation, text is usually the most important component. Virtually every slide contains text of some kind, even if it is just a title.
To enter text into a title placeholder
- Click into the text placeholder to select it (SpeedKey: F2)
A hashed border, indicating that the placeholder is selected, replaces the dotted outline around the outside of the text placeholder. The sample text disappears, and the insertion point is displayed in the placeholder, indicating that you can enter text.

In the case of titles and subtitles, only press Enter when you want to begin a new line of text. If your new text is too long to fit on one line, PowerPoint automatically wraps the text to the next line and aligns the text appropriately.

- Click outside the text placeholder to deselect it (SpeedKey: F2)

To enter text into a bulleted list
When you work with bullets you can choose from five indentation levels.
