This training course aims to give you the skills you need to build basic pages both for your company intranet and the internet using Microsoft's FrontPage 2002. Readers will learn how to create and manage basic websites, incorporating text, graphics, hyperlinks, tables and special FrontPage components.

To create a web based on a different template

  • From the File menu, click New then Page or Web...

The New Page or Web task pane is displayed on the right-hand side of the application window.

  • From the New from template section, click Web Site Templates...

The Web Site Templates dialogue box is displayed.

  • In the Web Sites list, select an appropriate template
  • In the Specify the location of the new web: box, type or select a location and a name for the new web
  • Click OK

Create a Web Using a Wizard

Many of the web templates present you with a wizard to help you customise the web.

To create a web using a wizard

  • From the File menu, click New then Page or Web...

The New Page or Web task pane is displayed on the right-hand side of the application window.

  • Choose a location to store the web in then select one of the Wizard icons
  • Click OK

The first page of the Web Wizard is displayed.

  • Respond to each question about your company and the information you want to present on your web
  • To move to the next page of the Wizard, click Next>
  • If you make a mistake you can move back to a previous page in the Wizard by clicking <Back
  • Click Finish to create the new web

FrontPage creates a new web, based on the responses you have given.

The Home Page is called index.htm - but supporting pages have been created too.
